EASTON – The Red Rovers didn’t have the start they wanted Friday night. Easton’s offense overcame a slow start against Stroudsburg. But It was the Red Rovers defense, that kick started their offense. Anthony Diaz and Jason Frutchey tackled Stroudsburg running back Jaylin Rieara in the end zone for the safety. From there, the Red Rovers’ offense went into cruise control, led by Quarterback Cole Ordway’s four touchdowns in a 43-14 win over Stroudsburg, Friday night at Cottingham Stadium.

“We gave them some opportunities this first half,” said Matt Seneca. “We got to clean up some stuff going into the last four weeks. We just needed to play Easton Football.”

With the win the Red Rovers move to 5-1 and Stroudsburg drops to 3-3.

The Red Rovers got the first touchdown of the night. Ordway faked a handoff to Dorian Thomas and hit a wide-open Andrew Biddle, who went 40 yards for the score. Easton led 9-0 with 1:54 left in the first quarter.

The Mounties made it a two-point game on a Ben Pilcher pass to Kamari Coleman. Coleman caught the ball and broke free for a 48-yard touchdown. The Red Rovers led 9-7 late in the first quarter. That would be as close as Stroudsburg got all night.

The Red Rovers started clicking in the second quarter. The duo of Ordway to Biddle struck again. This time they went 50 yards for the score. “This was a must win game for us tonight,” said Andrew Biddle. “We didn’t play our best football tonight, but we are working to improve.”

Easton wasn’t done. Dorian Thomas rushed for an eight-yard touchdown with 5:52 left in the half and Will Day added a three-yard touchdown run right before halftime. Easton Area led 30-7 at halftime.

The second half was all Red Rovers. Ordway scored two rushing touchdowns (10 and 43). Stroudsburg finished the night with a Pilcher to Ethan Dudsak 22-yard pass into the end zone for a score.

Easton will be home next weekend against Northampton and Stroudsburg hosts Pocono Mountain West.
