The PSFCA Big 33 is excited to announce that Bishop McDevitt High School will be the new host venue for the 2022 Big 33 Football Classic and PSFCA East/West All-Star Games. Upon reaching this decision, PSFCA Big 33 Executive Director, Garry Cathell, noted “a huge asset to this new venue will be that all of our practices and special events will all take place at one central location. Logistically, this will make planning all our events easier and it will make the Big 33 a more visible presence in the community. We are very excited about this new partnership!”

Big 33 Memorial Day Weekend events will start on Thursday, May 26th and will conclude with the 65th Big 33 “Super Bowl of High School Football” on Memorial Day Monday, May 30th. PA and MD Players and Cheerleaders will all practice at Bishop McDevitt HS. Other special events over the long weekend that will take place at McDevitt will be the Big 33 Buddy Day, Big 33 Pep Rally, Big 33 Recognition Program, and Big 33 FCA Breakfast.   “Bishop McDevitt High School is honored to share our first-class facilities and Rocco Ortenzio Stadium with such a prestigious event and organization. We are humbled to host this year’s Big 33 Summer Classic and wish the football teams, cheerleaders, families and guests a great experience. Thank you to event organizers and volunteers, especially Garry Cathell and the members of the Big 33 organization, for making this event happen.” – Dr. David Gardiner, School President, Bishop McDevitt HS.

Big 33 Game Day will consist of several events and activities in and around Rocco Ortenzio Stadium. Planning is underway for a Fan Fest, which will start in the morning and conclude before kickoff of the 65th Big 33 Football Classic. We will also have a Murph Competition sponsored by the US Marines, as well as other family friendly activities.

Big 33 PA and MD Players will stay with Host Families again this year. Any interested families can contact Nicole Whitmire at nwhitmire@big33.org.

PSFCA East/West All-Stars will play their Big School and Small School All-Star football games at Rocco Ortenzio Stadium on Sunday, May 29th (Times TBD). These games will feature seniors from the state of Pennsylvania, as well as all-star Cheerleaders.

Tommy Mealy, Athletic Director at Bishop McDevitt HS, has added “We are proud to host the Big 33 Football Classic this summer and look forward to upholding the standard and tradition of excellence that the Big 33 game itself and the Big 33 experience has brought the state of Pennsylvania in the past.”
