Offensive Player of the Week:
-Semaj Beals (Roman – Jr. – QB): This Cahillite passing whiz was honored here last week and it’s not common that we go back-to-back, but Beals’ performance was worthy and then some. In an impressive win (52-21) over St. John’s (D.C.) the Roman quarterback sliced and diced his opponent to the tone of 465 yards and six passing scores, on a 23-for-31 showing. As it turns out, the yardage output was not only a Roman passing record (Phil DiWilliams 415 yards in 2014), but also a PCL record (SJ Prep’s Samaj Jones 420 yards in 2022). There seems to be no slowing down Beals and the Cahillite passing game in the early going.
Offensive Honor Roll:
-Gavin Sidwar (LaSalle – Jr. – QB): The Explorers’ QB was once again highly efficient and productive in a great win over Malvern, 21-17, at the shore. He finished 22-for-28, for 306 yards and a pair of scores.
-Julian McFadden (LaSalle – Sr. – WR): McFadden continues to produce for Lasalle and made a tough catch for a touchdown that proved to be the difference in the Explorers’ well-earned victory versus Malvern. He finished with 4 grabs for 97 yards.
–Eyan Stead (Roman – Jr. – WR): The emerging Stead was brilliant with 8 receptions for 177 yards and three touchdowns in Roman’s demolition of St. John’s (D.C.).
-Rayshawn Scott (Roman – Sr. – WR): Scott scored twice on receptions; including cherry-on-the-top, scintillating 86-yarder in Roman’s big win Saturday. He ended with 148 yards on 5 catches and two scores.
-Noel Campbell (Bonner-Pren. – Soph. – QB): In the Friars opener, Noel sparkled with a 15-for-24, 254 yard outing that included a trio of passing strikes.
-Monty Zoryea & Sincere Fairey (Con.-Egan – Sr. – RB): This pair of Eagles’ backfield mates rushed for a combined 223 yards on just 17 total carries in CE’s squashing of Chichester, 38-0. Zoryea (108 yards) scored twice.
-Derrick Kennedy (Judge – Sr. – RB): Kennedy rushed 15 times for 196 yards, which included a long TD run that gave the Crusaders the lead for good in the 3rd quarter.
Defensive Player of the Week:
-Jack Leuthe (LaSalle – Sr. – LB): Leuthe provide a pivotal moment in LaSalle’s, 21-17, win over Malvern when he snatched a deflected pass out of the air and returned it untouched 56 yards for a score. He added 5 total tackles in the game; including a sack and another TFL.
Defensive Honor Roll:
-John Brown (O’Hara – Sr. LB): A week after a 14-tackle effort in defeat, Brown one-upped that total with 15 stops in the Lions’ win over Wood. He added a forced fumble, sack, and three other TFLs in the game.
-Brian Shimp (Con.-Egan – Sr. – DE): Was active in the opponent’s backfield as witnessed by his three sacks.
-Elijah Rankin (Con.-Egan – Soph. – OLB): Paced the Eagles defense with 9 total tackles; including two sacks and one other TFL.
-Sammy Dantonka (O’Hara – Soph. – OLB): Contributed ten tackles and one TFL in the Lions’ win over Wood.
-Dylan Clair (LaSalle – Sr. – LB): Once again made his presence felt with a 10-tackle effort; including a sack.
-Edward Sutter (LaSalle – Sr. – DB): Was instinctive and savvy in his 9-tackle and interception performance versus Malvern.
Special Teams Player of the Week:
-Johnny Austerberry (Con.-Egan – Sr. – K/P): Was perfect on five extra-points and nailed a 28-yard field goal in a triumph over Chichester. Also, punted thrice for a 39.0 average.
Multi-Purpose Player of the Week:
-Khalil Epps (O’Hara – Sr. – WR/DB): Offensively, Epps zipped 78 yard on a counter play to open the scoring. On the other side of the ball, he chipped-in with seven tackles, three pass defends, and two important interceptions.
Spectacular in Defeat:
-Kal el Durham (West Catholic – Sr. – QB): In the Burrs, 26-18, defeat to Northeast, Durham scored three times rushing the ball and amassed 159 yards on 19 carries. He added another 73 yards through the air.
