Offensive Player of the Week

Kyle McCord – SJ Prep – QB – Senior

The Hawks’ prolific quarterback tossed four scoring passes and accumulated 234 yards (12-for-23) in his team’s, 52-6, dismantling of Archbishop Wood. McCord’s scoring strikes covered 55, 14, 8, and 10 yards, respectively.  He also got the scoring started with a 1-yard plunge on a sneak. McCord is now third all-time in city passing yards, as he surpassed the 6,000=yard marker. He now has 6,129 yards and is on target to break the city record of 6,837 yards held by LaSalle’s all-time Brett Gordon ’97.

Defensive Player of the Week

Ani Jones – Neumann-Goretti – OLB – Senior

The Saints’ rangy outside-linebacker was a force throughout in his team’s 28-21 besting of Archbishop Carroll. Jones notched three sacks worth 23 yards in losses while adding two other solo tackles. In the second quarter, Jones picked-off a pass near the line of scrimmage and raced 47 yards for a touchdown. For good measure, he added a pass defend in the game. Jones helped spearhead a Saints’ defensive effort that amassed 9 sacks, forced four turnovers, and held Carroll to minus-57 yards rushing.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Santi Sturla – LaSalle – K/P – Junior

The Explorers’ lefty placekicker had a productive day in LaSalle’s, 32-6, conquest over Roman. He made 3-of-4 extra-points and nailed a 35-yard field goal to help the scoring. Sturla’s kickoffs were solid and one reached the end zone for a touchback. As a punter, he belted four balls for a 44.0 yard average. With a long of 48 yards in the game.
