Philadelphia Catholic League Players of the Week (Week of Oct. 16th, 2023)

Offensive Player of the Week:

-Desmond Ortiz – LaSalle – Soph. – RB:

-In LaSalle’s 48-0 demolition of Wood, Ortiz took advantage of his opportunity by rushing for 113 yards on a two scores (3 & 44 yards) on just 13 totes.

Offensive Honor Roll:

-Gavin Sidwar – LaSalle – Soph. – QB: Was a precise 9-for-11, 173 yards and four scoring passes versus Archbishop Wood.

-Brandon Rehmann – SJ Prep – Sr. – WR: Made three grabs for 89 yards; including a 46-yard touchdown.

-Chris Dalton – Arch. Ryan – Sr. – RB: Toughed-out 25 carries for 102 yards and touchdown.

-Keon Powell – O’Hara – Sr.  RB: Paced the Lions with 123 yards on 28 carries.

-Mehki Wharton – Neum.-Gor. – Sr. – QB: Went 12-for-14 with 80 yards passing in win over Conwell-Egan. Two of his completions went for scores.

Bashir Carter – Neum.-Gor. – Soph. – TE: The Saints’ emerging TE made five snags for 45 yards and a pair of scores.

Defensive Player of the Week:

-Nick Rogers – Ryan – Sr. – DE: Registered a trio of sacks amongst his seven total stops and accounted for 43 yards in losses, as the Raiders blanked visiting West Catholic, 20-0.

Defensive Honor Roll:

-Louie Amiano – SJ Prep – Soph. – LB: Amiano was active in a reserve roll for the Hawks. He notched 5 tackles and added a 44-yard interception return for a score.

-Sean McNulty – SJ Prep – Sr. DE: McNulty compiled 7 tackles; including two that went for losses.

 -Hakim Allah – O’Hara – Soph. – DL: Anchored the Lions defensive line with six tackles, including two sacks and another TFL that massed 24 yards in losses.

Christon Mitchell-Brown – Ryan – Jr. – LB: Paced the Red Raiders with 11 tackles and a one TFL.

-Owen Bonner – Carroll – Jr. – LB: Amassed ten tackles in his team’s game versus O’Hara.

-Colin Walker – Con.-Egan – Jr. – LB: Hustled for 11 tackles in tough defeat to Neumann-Goretti.

-Dylan Clair – LaSalle – Jr. – LB: Shined brightly for the Explorers with 12 tackles (7 solos);featuring a sack, TFL, and forced fumble.

Special Teams Player of the Week:

-Isaiah Session – Bonner-Pren. Sr. – KR: Gave the Friars a jolt with a 72-yard kickoff return in their, 28-to-7, win over Lansdale Catholic.

Special Team Honor Roll:

-Dane Pizzaro – Judge – Sr. – K/P: In Judge’s loss versus St. Joe’s Prep, Pizzaro belted a pair of field goals covering 40 and 51 yards. He also punted once for 41 yards and added a pair of touchbacks.

-Kahmir Prescott – Neum.-Gor. – KR: Propelled the Saints with a 75-yard kickoff return touchdown.

 

Multi-Purpose Player of the Week:

-Khalil Epps – O’Hara – Jr. – WR/DB/KR: Epps contributed nicely in all three phases during his team’s 17-0 shutout of Archbishop Carroll. Offensively, made five catches for 58 yards and a score. Defensively, he totaled six tackles, including a sack, while adding four pass defends. In the return game, he chipped-in with a 16-yard punt return and made an always underrated fair catch.

Spectacular in Defeat:

-Bobby Lombardo – Lansdale Cath. Sr. – LB:

Was active throughout the Crusaders loss to Bonner-Prendie and notched a game-high 14 tackles with one going for a loss.
