Offensive Player of the Week

Mike VanHorn – Father Judge – Sr. – QB

In a game played in a steady rain for most of the night, VanHorn toughed out 33 carries for 129 yards and two scores. Late in the fourth quarter, he led his team on what proved to be the game-winning score by carrying 8 times for 37 yards. His 4-yard scoring burst capped the drive. Moments later the Crusaders stopped the Cahillites on a conversion run to prevail and prevent an improbable Roman victory.  Roman drove 95 yards in the final minute to draw within one point before being stopped and allowing Judge to walk out of Northeast H.S. Charlie Martin Stadium with a 21-to-20 win.

Defensive Player of the Week

Josiah Trotter – St. Joseph’s Prep – Jr. – LB

Trotter paced the Hawks’s defense with a team-high seven tackles; including a TFL for six yards and a pass defended. However, his biggest contribution was when he took a lateral from jr. DL Matt DuMond off a fumble and returned the ball the last 21 yards for a score. Trotter’s blocking paved the way for DuMond to cover the first 52 yards before receiving the pitch and scurrying into the end zone with rather ease.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Rich Paczewski Archbishop Ryan – Jr. – PR

With the Raiders only leading 7-0 over West Catholic, the brassy Paczewsski scooped a short Burrs’ punt and raced untouched 45 yards for a room-to-breathe touchdown in the second quarter. Offensively, Paczewski added three catches for 31 yards from his wide receiver position.
