Philadelphia Catholic League Players of the Week

Week of October 31st, 2024

 

Offensive Player of the Week:

-Joey O’Brien (LaSalle – Jr. – WR): O’Brien was active early and often for the Explorers in their, 35-16, win over Roman Catholic. When it was all said and done, he had finished with 11 receptions for 199 yards (School record: Troy Holland 213 yards on ’16). Included in this was a nail-in-the-coffin, acrobatic 93-yard touchdown along the sideline.

Offensive Honor Roll:

-Charlie Foulke (St. Joe’s Prep – Soph. – QB): Foulke was an efficient 10-for-11 for 176 yards and three passing scores in the Hawks impressive win over Bonner-Prendie.

-Will Vokolos (St. Joe’s Prep – Sr. – RB): Vokolos turned nine carries into 114 yards a score for the Hawks.

-Khyan Billups (St. Joe’s Prep – Jr. – RB): Billups managed 119 yards and a touchdown on just 9 totes for the Hawks.

-Gavin Sidwar (LaSalle – Jr. – QB): Sidwar continued to thrive and direct a potent Explorers’ offense in their win over Roman. He finished 25-for-38 with 326 yards and two passing scores.

-Angelo Rossi (West Catholic  Jr. – RB): Rossi continued his good late-in-the-season play to the tune of 178 yards on 16 carries. He also added 49 yards on a pair of receptions.

 Defensive Player of the Week:

-Dylan Clair (LaSalle – Sr. – LB): Clair was a force for the Explorers in their win over Roman. The rugged backer ended with 9 total stops, 1.5 sacks, three other TFLS (22 yards in losses), and forced and recovered a fumble.

Defensive Honor Roll:

-Max Brown (O’Hara – Soph – LB): Paced the Lions’ defense with ten tackles (8 solo), a sack, and two pass defends.

-Donjuan Clark (Neum.-Gor. – Sr. – LB): Clark was one the defensive leader of the Saints with a team-high 9 tackles and a fumble recovery.

-Wydeek Collier (Neum.-Gor. – Jr. – DE): Collier was active throughout and finished with 2.5 sacks and one other TFL. All totaled, the losses accounted for 28 yards.

-Colin Walker (Con.-Egan – Sr. – LB): Walker, who recently returned from an injury, led the Eagles with 9 tackles; including two for losses.

 

Special Teams Player of the Week:

-Deante Ruffin (Neum.-Gor. – P – Sr.): In a game with a serious defensive flavor, Ruffin’ punting helped in the field position battle for the Saints. He punted six times for a 38.8 average.

Multi-Purpose Player of the Week:

-Kal-El Durham (West Cath. – QB/KR/DB – Sr.): Durham was sensational throughout in the Burrs wild, 50-31 win over Carroll. All totaled, he accounted for 6 touchdowns for the Burrs. As a rusher, he sped his way to 170 yards and four scores. While passing he went 13-for-18, 152 yards, and one score. His sixth touchdown was a result of an 82-yard kickoff return. Durham surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the season and is one of just a few quarterbacks to accomplish such a feat in city history. He added two tackles on defense.

Spectacular in Defeat:

-Chris Ulmer (Lansdale Cath. – LB – Sr.): Ulmer was his rugged-self and finished with a game-high 11 tackles (6 solo) in the Crusaders hard-fought loss to Neumann-Goretti. For good measure, he added a fumble recovery, a forced fumble, recovery of a muffed punt, and a pass defend.
