Offensive Player of the Week:
Cole Meehan – Lansdale Catholic – QB – Junior
For the third consecutive week, Meehan directed a Crusaders’ offense to a resounding victory. This week it was a, 42-6, drubbing over New Hope-Solebury. Meehan accounted for five touchdowns, including four through the air. All-total, he passed 12-for-14, for 278 yards. His scoring strikes went for 93, 31, 21, and 33 yards, respectively. He also added a 4-yard scoring run. Through the first three games of the season, Meehan has been an ultra-efficient 31-of-39 with 7 touchdown passes. He has led a Crusaders’ offense that has averaged 46.3 points per contest.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Matthew DuMond – SJ Prep – DE/OLB – Senior
DuMond was active throughout the Hawks’ hard-fought, 14-7, win over Erasmus Hall (NY) this Friday night in a game played at Franklin Field. DuMond collected ten tackles in the contest. Two of these stops were sacks that went for 19 yards in losses. His play helped the Hawk’s defense hold their opponent to just 192 yards on 61 plays (3.1 yards per play).
Special Teams Player of the Week:
Eric Smith – Father Judge – KR/RB – Junior
Early in the second quarter, Smith gave his team the spark they needed by calmly fielding a punt at his own 12-yard line, shedding an early tackle attempt, then neatly raced up his team’s sideline for an 88-yard score. The momentum provided by Smith lifted the Crusaders, as they went on to score three more touchdowns in the 2nd quarter to break the game open against arch-rival Archbishop Ryan. With the score, 31-0, at halftime Judge put it on cruise control in the second half and went on to win, 38-6.
