High school football teams across Eastern Pennsylvania get to kick off the practice early this year. That’s because the PIAA is implementing a mandatory pre-season Heat period for teams. Teams have the option of using the three-day period this week or Monday, Aug. 12, the beginning of the fall practice season.
The program restricts the length of practices and calls for a minimum two-hour rest period between sessions so players’ bodies can adjust to the August heat and humidity.
