The Maryland Terrapins have landed an offensive lineman from south central Pennsylvania as part of its 2011 recruiting class.
Andrew Zeller, a 6’5, 280-pound offensive tackle for Red Lion High School in York County, verbally committed to Maryland Thursday, according to Rivals.com. Rivals rated Zeller as a three-star prospect and ranked him as the 22nd-best offensive tackle in the state of Pennsylvania for this 2011 recruiting class.
Zeller owned four total scholarship offers, including Maryland. He also received offers from Duke, Oregon and Rutgers.
UCONN, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Pitt, Temple and Vanderbilt expressed interest in the Red Lion senior-to-be, but did not extend a scholarship offer.
As a junior, Zeller helped pave the way for a Red Lion offense that amassed over 1,600 passing yards and 1,700 rushing yards. The Lions averaged over 330 yards of offense and close to 23 points per game.
Red Lion finished 4-6 overall in 2009, winning three of its final six games.
