The fourth week of the 2008 season featured several contests that will give us a road map to this year’s playoff entrants and league champions. The two top ranked teams in Ed Thomas’ Southeastern Pa Top Ten faced off on a muddy field in Lansdale last Friday night. The North Penn Knights defended their number one status by slogging their way to a 14-7 win over St Joe Prep.
Over the last two seasons a little bit of observation and a lot of luck have allowed this writer a prediction record of 105-36. This season has also been kind with an 11-4 run on the line coming into the fourth week.
Last week found Penncrest upsetting Central League rival Haverford with a 34-33 overtime thriller and Great Valley pounding Penn Wood 42-0 as set backs for this future teller. North Penn, Glenn Mills and Strath Haven all came through as predicted for a 3-2 third week record.
It is now time for this weeks fearless forecast.
Prediction: North Penn 34 Central Bucks South 14
The Knights will follow running back Tyler Smith to any easy revenge victory this weekend. North Penn lost this showdown last year but it won’t happen in 2008.
Prediction: St. Joe Prep 28 LaSalle High School 27
Second ranked St Joe Prep will struggle but win this Catholic League contest. Running back Mike Yeager may well be the difference in this hard fought game. It won’t be easy but count on the Hawks to find a way to win.
Prediction: Garnet Valley 31 Strath Haven 7
The Jags will continue to enjoy their first year in the Central League by defeating one of the historically best football programs in Southeast Pa.
Here is the rest of the fearless forecast:
