He may only be entering his junior season in the fall, but one Philadelphia Catholic League quarterback is already making an impression and attracting Division-1 interest.

Michael Keir, a 6’2, 220-pound junior-to-be at Roman Catholic High School, has received interest, but no verbal scholarship offers, from nine Division-1 football programs, according to national recruiting service Scout.com.  Alabama, Boston College, Duke, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Pitt, Rutgers, South Carolina and Virginia have all expressed interest in Eagles’ field general.

Keir started 10 of Roman’s 12 games in 2010, but missed two games and significant portions of a third with an injury.  Despite the missed time, he still posted a respectable sophomore season, connecting on 70-of-148 passes (47.3 percent) for 1,207 yards and 13 touchdowns.  Keir threw for 100+ yards six times, including a pair of 200+-yard performances against Malvern Prep and Cardinal O’Hara, and finished five games with multiple touchdown passes.

Keir posted a 6-4 record as a starter last season and is on pace to throw for more than 3,600 yards and 39 touchdowns in his career.

Roman Catholic finished 8-4 last season, averaging 29.9 points per game and reaching the PCL AAAA championship game opposite La Salle College High School.  The Eagles lost the PCL final to the Explorers, 34-7.
