On December 13th, George School, A Quaker high school in Newtown, PA, sent the school community an email announcing the abrupt decision to end its 99-year-long, 11-man Varsity Football program, citing that the program “does not align with the mission and strategic priorities of the school” and a supposed player shortage. The current players and families were informed via this email without discussion, prior communication, or knowledge of this decision. There is no current player shortage on the GS Varsity Football team. The George School Administration and the Board of Trustees have been sent a letter signed by current team parents and alumni requesting reconsideration and a community-wide meeting.
Next year will be George School’s 100th Football Season, and we are asking all supporters to please sign this petition in order to help SAVE the GEORGE SCHOOL 11-MAN FOOTBALL PROGRAM and support ALL student-athletes at George School. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
