Three weeks ago, running back Dominick Bragalone set South Williamsport’s single-game rushing record, running for 306-yards against Canton. They say, “Records are meant to be broken.” Dominick is rewriting the rushing records at South Williamsport in only five games this season.
Last weekend he broke his own schools single-game rushing record with 333-yards rushing against Warrior Run.
In that game he rushed for six touchdowns against Warrior Run, breaking the previous record held by Lee Noviello, who rushed for five touchdowns in 1971.
By scoring six touchdowns, Dominick scored 36 points in the game breaking the previous record of 30 points in a game in 1971.
So far this season Bragalone has rushed for 1,183 yards on 102 carries and 18 touchdowns. He’s averaging 11.6 yards per carry. “He is really new to football,” said head coach Chris Eiswerth.
“The first year he played football was as an 8th grader and he scored 30 touchdowns.” His first year playing varsity football was last year. He rushed for 746 yards and 10 touchdowns. “He had a tremendous sophomore year for us,” said Eiswerth. “He had 1,200 all-purpose yards for us.”
Q & A with head football coach Chris Eiswerth
What kind of speed does he have?
“He has been clocked at some of the camps at 4.48. He is 5-foot-11, 200-pounds. Once he gets in the clear, he’s gone. He can beat you both ways, by speed or power.”
How much have you used him this year?
“The first week against Bloomsburg he played the whole game because it came down to the wire. The second and third weeks he only played two quarters.”
Do you think he is getting comfortable out there as each week passes?
“The first couple of weeks he ran like a track guy, just straight ahead. He was never in a I-formation before. I think after five weeks he is starting to get comfortable out there.”
What are some of his attributes?
“He is a hard worker. He’s really dedicated him self to getting better and is a good leader.”
