In a few weeks we will all know which teams have made the playoff cut. This is the sixth week of the season and we are getting an idea of which teams are in position to make an end of the season run for a top seed. Pennsbury, Coatesville, Quakertown, Council Rock North and West Chester Rustin fill out the favored five at AAAA level.
The AAA level has the undefeated Springfield Cougars with Bishop Shanahan and Great Valley in good position at this point in the season
As predicted last weekend several of the previously undefeated teams fell including Conestoga, Great Valley and Bishop Shanahan . The last eight years the prognostication record stands at 378-163 while going 14-6 for this season. Coatesville, Springfield (Delco) and West Chester Rustin all won as predicted with Central Buck South’s win over North Penn and Pennridge’s win over North Penn as the failed picks. Only top competitive games have been chosen for this fearless forecast.
Let’s get right to the predictions for this week’s contests. Every game is a big game for the undefeated Coatesville Red Raiders. The Red Raiders won a hard fought battle of two undefeated squads with a 26-14 victory over Bishop Shanahan last weekend. Both teams played give away with the Red Raiders turning the ball over four times and the Eagles returning the favor on five occasions. The Coatesville defense led by Amir Ealey and Javon Sampson limited the Shanahan offense to 168 yards and just 8 first downs. This Friday night the Downingtown East Cougars 4-1 will be hosting the Red Raiders and they will need a victory to keep up with the hard charging Coatesville squad. The Cougars had to come from behind to defeat West Chester East last week 34-31. QB Andrew Hudson has an accurate arm but the Red Raider defense will prevail.
Coatesville 31 Downingtown East 17
This must be the year of the Cougar, The Springfield Cougars of the Central League is the only remaining AAA undefeated team in District One. QB Brian Allen ran three yards and passed six yards to Quideer Wimes for TD’s on the way to a 21-12 win over previously undefeated Conestoga. This Thursday night the Cougars travel to Strath Haven. The Panthers have fallen on some tough times over the last few years and are out of the gate with a 1-4 record this year. Strath Haven lost to Upper Darby on a Hail Mary TD pass as time ran out last Friday night. Even though this game should favor Springfield, all in the Central League are aware of the winning tradition and the coaching skills of Kevin Clancy that would be dangerous to ignore.
Springfield 27 Strath Haven 14
