It would not be unreasonable to consider Wood as one of the top three teams in the AAA classification this season.  The Vikings have quite a number of pieces and a very sizeable and physical offensive line to make yet another deep playoff run and possibly a 3rd consecutive berth in the Eastern Finals.  Wood scored a huge victory when Desmon Peoples, a RB/DB for St. Joseph’s Prep as a sophomore, transferred recently.  Peoples is a home-run hitter in terms of speed, and ran for 1,050 yards and 10 touchdowns and had five receiving touchdowns for the Prep a season ago.  More than 25 Division-1 programs have shown interest in Peoples to date.  Sam McCain, the top returning receiver, put up over 500 yards in that department.  Offensive linemen Chris Knott, Rory Clark and Frank Taylor and junior TE Colin Thompson all have a year of experience under their belts – Taylor and Thompson are both Division-1 prospects – Taylor is 295 pounds and Thompson caught six touchdown passes.  DL Matt Massello has gotten D-1 and 1-AA interest, and sophomore K Nick Visco (62 total points; 41 PATs, 7 FGs) will spark the special teams.  Look for the Vikings to be prime contenders in the eastern half of the state both this year – and next, too.
