Twenty-seven victories over the last three seasons, including a 12-1 season in 2010, have breathed fire back into the Danville football program, and the purple and orange are looking to continue that success with a large, large group of underclassmen.
A preseason roster posted on Maxpreps listed 39 players – and only three seniors – one of which is two-way lineman Mason Fausnaught, a 260-pound frame. Sure, Danville lost a very effective field general in Andrew Andreychik, who threw for 3,700 yards and 51 touchdowns in his Iromen career, but junior Weston Baylor has shown promise.
Add to that a combined 1,600 yards in rushing returning from a pair of junior backs – Sam Dressler and Isaiah Croll – and WRs Bret Berg and Zach Kozick, among others, and Danville could find itself poised for a solid Heartland Athletic Conference Division-I run and District 4 AA playoff berth.
