UPPERDARBY: Thunder and Lighting may be enough to cancel a football game but when they are players. That’s what the Lions of Cardinal O’Hara have in Sr. Evan Higgins ( Thunder) and Jr. Corey Brown ( Lighting). The duo combined to rush for 162 yards on 20 carries to pace the visiting Lions pass the Monsignor Bonner Friars by a score of 33-0 Friday night at Upper Darby Memorial Stadium.
After Bonner took the down the O’Hara 20 yard line the Lions defense which been dominate all season continue to dominate forcing the Friars to turn the ball over. On the ensuing drive the Lions marched down 82 yards on 3 plays. It was Brown that capped the drive with his 59 yard run. Alex Penza would add his first career PAT giving the Lions the 7-0 lead.
From that point the Lion defense step up when the Lions needed it most. On the ensuing Bonner driving Higgins would strike on defense with his interception on an interception of Anthony DiGalbo pass. On the ensuing Friars drive. They drove down the Lions two yard line that’s where the might Lion defense would take over and hold the Friars to no points. O’Hara Head Coach Dan Algeo called the goal line stand “ Huge” The Lions would proceed to 98 yards on 12 plays when Higgins would power his way for through the defense for a 11 yard touchdown. The PAT was blocked giving the Lions the 13-0 lead.
On the next Lions drive “Lighting” would strike again this time from 2 yards out. Brown would then run it in for the 2 point conversion giving the Lions the 21-0 lead
Higgins would show his receiving skills has he became a target on a Rutgers Commit Tom Savage would connect for a 50 yard touchdown. The PAT was no good giving the Lions the 27-0 halftime lead. Savage would describe Higgins has “Evan is a second punch to the stomach to them” Higgins would end the game with 17 yards on 3 carries and 1 reception for 50 yards
Brown would strike one more time in the third quarter this time from 5 yards out. The 2 point conversion was no good giving the Lions the 33-0 victory. Brown would finish the game with 145 yards on 17 carries and 2 touchdowns. Brown would also contribute 42 yards on 4 catches.
Up next for the Lions is a showdown with the Washington DC powerhouse Woodson on Saturday night at Widener University while the Friars will host the defending Philadelphia Catholic League Champions the Cahillites of Roman Catholic on Saturday night.

I think If they meet again in the PCLs the game will be closer. The Friars just need to plug in a few pieces the to the puzzle and they will be okay.
