The second week of the 2009 season suffered from either wet fields or postponements due to the Nor’easter that pummeled the area last week. However all games were played as weather improved enough to play on Saturday.

The predictions went as expected although nasty field conditions may have kept the scores down. Neshaminy, LaSalle, Downingtown West and Strath Haven all won as predicted last week. However Interboro avenged last years set back to Bonner with a 14-7 victory on Saturday night.

The last three years this future teller has a 110-40 prediction record and with a 2009 first two week record at 8-2 there may still be a little luck left to call on for future predictions.

This week offers some major challenges to the top rated teams in Ed Thomas’ Southeast Pa Top Ten. http://www.havenfootball.net/Ed%20Thomas%20Wk%203.html. In addition local high school fans will be treated to several Thursday night contests. The best of the best features number two ranked North Penn facing off against sixth ranked St Joe Prep at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School on Friday night.. The Knights had little difficulty with some tough opposition in the first two weeks of the season. The St Joe Hawks were impressive in beating national powerhouse St Peter’s Prep from Jersey City last Saturday afternoon. The North Penn defense and the solid running of Craig Needhammer will be too much for the Prep to handle.

Prediction:    North Penn  24  St Joe Prep  13

One game that may offer some surprises this week features the up and coming Chester Clippers traveling to seventh ranked Downingtown West. The Whippets have faced down both Penncrest and Glenn Mills with QB Bret Gillespie directing a high powered offense to 70 points in the two contests. Meanwhile Chester overpowered cross town rival Sun Valley last week 36-0. The Clippers have a tough defense led by linebacker Ronell Williams and can count on running back Darrell Nicholson for some offensive punch. Downingtown West may just win on experience but will remember the Clippers.

Prediction:    Downingtown West  27  Chester  12
