Week two predictions go 5-0

The 2010 high school football season has already provided local fans with some great games between the pre-season top ranked teams. One of these contests included top ranked LaSalle High in Ed Thomas’ Southeastern Pa Top Ten, against New Jersey powerhouse Bergen Catholic. The pick here was a Bergen victory and LaSalle did everything possible to prove that prediction wrong. However the experienced Crusaders held off a late surge to win 22-21.

In the other four contests featured last week Cardinal O’Hara, Garnet Valley, Interboro and Strath Haven all swept their opponents as predicted.

The last four years, this future teller has a 162-62 prognostication record and a 2010 record of 5-0.

While many of this weekend’s game will be played on Thursday night so that students can observe Yom Kippur on Friday night, one of the games to watch involves an interstate showdown between Red Lion Christian from the state of Delaware and Del-Val Champion Interboro. This contest will be played Friday evening at Interboro. One of the many factors that make this an attractive choice is the presence of the nationally known eighth grade quarterback from Red Lion Dave Sills. You may recall that Sills committed to USC while a seventh grader and that action created quite a stir in the national media. Red Lion also boasts Auburn bound Angelo Blackson 6’5” 300 lb lineman on both offence and defense. The Interboro Bucs have a long winning tradition under Coach Steve Lennox with a 164-39 record while leading the Bucs. This game may well turn on how well the Interboro defense handles the Lions talented offense. Star studded Red Lion will win this contest but won’t forget how tough this road trip was on their sore bodies.

Prediction: Red Lion (Delaware) 27 Interboro 19

Another game to catch this weekend another showdown between the Hawks of St Joe’s Prep and the Knights of North Penn. The Knights are led by running back Craig Needhammer and QB Corey Ernst. After a first week loss to LaSalle Coach Beck got the Knight back on track with a 42-0 win over Lansdale Catholic in week two. Count on North Penn to keep up the winning momentum over St Joe Prep.

Prediction: North Penn 35 St Joe Prep 20

Here is the rest of this weeks fearless forecast:

Prediction: Strath Haven 21 Radnor 13

Prediction: Ridley 31 Haverford High 12

Prediction: LaSalle 24 West Catholic 17
