Towanda scrimmages Lake Lehman in final tune-up for season.

Towanda finished its preseason in style with a quality scrimmage Saturday morning vs Lake Lehman at Endless Mountain Athletic Complex. After coming off last week’s one-sided scrimmage vs Montgomery, Towanda maintained its strong play scoring five times to Lake Lehman’s one score.

Towanda was without starting quarterback Trey Sites who was sidelined with a minor injury. The Black Knights took to the ground and were led by Sr. Mason Roof who compiled 143 yards on just nine attempts with a score. Roof wasn’t only a threat on the ground, as the senior also caught two passes for 54 yards with a score and returned an interception for a touchdown. Towanda scored four times on the opening ten play designed drives and once with the chains in play.

Lake Lehman scored late in the chain period which was helped greatly by a diving 35 yard catch by Sr. running back Nick Shelley. Shelley led the Knights on the ground and receiving with 55 and 42 yards respectively.

For Towanda, Roof had his 143 yards on the ground. Senior Garrett Dinelli had 62 yards on 11 carries, and Jordan Dawsey and Junior Austin Schoonover had 20 yards both on three carries. Jared Novitski threw for 58 yards for Lake Lehman. Towanda’s Jordan Dawsey took over the quarterback duties for the game and went 3-8 for 72 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

Notable scoring plays for Towanda were a 62 yard TD run by Roof, a 56 yard TD catch by Roof, and an eight yard jaunt by Dawsey. Lake Lehman scored on a one-yard touchdown plunge. Towanda finishes its scrimmaging season scoring ten TD’s and only allowed one score. Lake Lehman scored once in the reserves period with Towanda scoring twice.
