In the 2022-23 season, Tyler was the offensive coordinator at Hamburg. But in 2024, he had the opportunity to coach at Pottsville as their offensive coordinator. That was short lived. When Matt Hoffert stepped down after three seasons, the opportunity opened for Tyler to come back to Hamburg as a coach. That dream came true. Tyler was named Head Football coach at Hamburg back in December.

“I know the character and ability of the student athletes here, the quality coaching staff I would be able to surround them with, and the support we will receive from the administration,” said Hartranft. “It checked all the boxes I was looking for in my first head coaching job and I couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming season. The thing I am most looking forward to at Hamburg Area is to get the full team back together working this summer in preparation for the 2025 season.”

Hartranft is a graduate of King’s College. He was a coach (RB/TE/WR) there from 2015-17. He was also the passing game coordinator at McDaniel College in Maryland (2018-2019). Tyler was the quarterback coach at Spring-Ford in 2020. After one season at Spring-Ford he coached at King’s College as the running backs coach.

Hartranft is a Special Education teacher at Hamburg Area.
