Last year Derek Adams was 56 of 57 PAT and 6 of 12 field goals. He averaged 34 yards a punt and had 35 touchbacks.
“With Derek’s ability to punt and kick the ball, he is definitely a game changing type of player that I am glad we have playing for us and not against us,” said head football coach Dave Hahn.”We need to take advantage of his abilities on Special Teams.”
So far this season they have done that. He has had 16 touchbacks, 6 of 6 PAT and 6 of 8 field goals. He is averaging 37.9 yards per punt.
“He is a weapon for us just like a tailback and receiver. He is a big part of our offense.”
Derek verbally committed as a preferred walk-on at Western Michigan. Last week against Cedar Crest he kicked three fields of 36, 23 and 37. He had seven touchbacks.
We congratulate Derek as our Week 3 Special Teams Player of the Week
