The 2010 season is fast approaching the finish line with teams positioning themselves for a playoff push whileothers are trying to play the part of spoiler. The two schools facing off in this week six District II matchup are far from spoilers. Both Abington Heights and Valley View have visions of playing deep into the month of November.
The Comets (5-0) will travel to Valley View to take on the Cougars (4-1) this Friday. Abington Heights has not lost to the Cougars since October 3, 2003. Abington Heights’ head coach Joe Repshis has seen his Comets post ten-plus win seasons in four of the last five years. At the rate they’re going this year should be another double digit win season. Last week, the Comets crushed Delaware Valley, 39-10. The Comets top District II in scoring (40.4) and are fourth in points allowed (11.8). AHHS seeks their twelfth win in the last thirteen tries on the road.
George Howanitz’ Cougars have already matched their 2009 win total. Valley View is seeking their sixth win in the past seven home dates since last October. A week ago, the Cougars coasted to a, 22-9, victory over Wallenpaupack. Valley View enters their sixth week contest as second in the district in points against (11.2).
Abington Heights has won the last six meetings. Can Valley View send their faithful home pleased?
