This week will truly be remembered as Philly area sports fans can now forget 25 years of frustration with the Phillies second World Series Championship in team history.
The 2008 high school season has reached week ten and this week will determine the league championship hopes of many area high school football squads. The North Penn Knights have already caught the fever with an undefeated regular season and an early clinch of the Suburban One Continental Conference Championship. The Knights now look to finish the season with the District One top playoff seed. The games this weekend will determine Central League and Suburban One National Champions as well.
The top ranked teams on Ed Thomas’ Southeastern Pa Top Ten faced some tough competition last week. Except for Abington’s 24-14 loss to the new top 10 team Pennsbury, all went well.
Over the last two seasons a little bit of observation and a lot of luck have allowed this writer a prediction record of 105-36. This season is has been a little tough but a 31-14 prediction record going into the tenth week is fine given how competitive these teams have become this season.
Last weekend North Penn, Ridley and Father Judge all won as predicted while the Interboro Bucs and Pennsbury Falcons showed great determination in beating Salesiunum and Abington to lower this future teller’s season record.
The Central League once again offers this week’s top game to consider. Garnet Valley is enjoying their first year in this league and is yet to lose. The season will be even more enjoyable if the can beat defending champion Ridley for sole possession of the league title. It is always tough to pick against Ridley but the Green Raider defense just won’t be able to stop the duo running attack of Tim Keyser and Nick Bonacquisti in this contest.
Prediction: Garnet Valley 27 Ridley 21
The North Penn Knights are 8-0 and running back Ronnie Akins will help his team break the three game Pennridge winning streak..
Prediction: North Penn 42 Pennridge 19
Conestoga will be fighting for their playoff lives this weekend when they travel to Penncrest. The Lions den will be to0 much for the Pioneers to handle. Penncrest in another come from behind victory will land them a high seed in next weeks D-1 AAAA playoff opener.
Prediction: Penncrest 23 Conestoga 13

hands down the riverside vikings are the most talented team in the state even though they are class A they would probably go to states in AA they are the real deal the only way the vikings can lose is if they beat themselves by making mistakes and so far they have not made to many so. co. & haven are very good football teams and very well coached & high-spire has alot of d-1 talent but has yet to play against an EXPLOSIVE offense like riverside.
GV’s Bonacquisti is a dynamic runningback, but his first name is Jared, not Nick.
