The fifth week of the 2008 season found no surprises as the top ranked teams in Ed Thomas’ Southeastern Pa Top Ten marched to easy victories last weekend. The top ten look to repeat that experience as October football is on board.
Over the last two seasons a little bit of observation and a lot of luck have allowed this writer a prediction record of 105-36. This season is getting tough to predict with a 17-8 run on the line coming into the sixth week.
Last weekend Ridley, Downingtown West and Springfield all won as predicted. However Chester and Strath Haven fooled me with hard fought victories over league rivals Academy Park and Haverford.
One key match up this week features number one ranked North Penn facing long time rival Central Bucks West. Ronnie Akins will be just too much for the CB West defense to handle

Another showdown pits undefeated Cardinal O’Hara at Roman Catholic. This game features Rutgers bound Tom Savage leading the Lions while tailback Kasseim Everett will try to run Roman to a slight upset in this Philly Catholic League contest.
Prediction: Cardinal O’Hara 17 Roman Catholic 14
The game between Garnet Valley and Haverford had all the look of a Central League Championship game when the season opened. Garnet Valley has followed Tim Keyser through the line and an undefeated start, while Haverford suffered two unexpected losses to Strath Haven and Penncrest. The Jags will continue this seasons run.
