The Wilson West Lawn football team hit an historic milestone Friday night with its 45-7 win over McCaskey. They recorded their 500th win in program history and have a current winning streak of 37 wins in a row in the Lancaster-Lebanon Section 1 league.
Wilson started their football program back in 1945, when they won one game and lost four that year. After Friday’s win they now have a record of 500 wins, 213 losses and 14 ties.
The Bulldogs have had a rich tradition for many years, including 10 undefeated regular seasons, 1967, 1969, 1978, 1981, 1989, 1995, 1999, 2002, 2008 and 2010.
But one of the most impressive stats is, 57 seasons of winning records and 27 seasons of championship teams.
Head Coach Doug Dahms has coached at Wilson from 1976 to 2005 as a assistant coach and from 2006 to present as the head coach. “I have been here 38-years,” said Dahms. “I have seen 349 of the 500 wins.”
Wilson will be going for win number 501 this Friday night against Cedar Crest. “We are going to celebrate win number 500 this Friday night since we were on the road last weekend. We are going to have a big 500 painted on the field and we are going to have a football painted and presented at half time.”
There will be many presentations before the game and at halftime. “We are going to have many alumni here Friday night to celebrate. It will be the past, present and future of Wilson football here that night.”

Congrats. Manheim Central and Wilsons programs mirror each other closely. MC started varsity football in 1947, 2 years after Wilson and MC has similar record to Wilson 497-200-18. MC should hit 500 wins this season as well.
