One of the leaders of Wilson-West Lawn’s impressive defensive unit will continue his collegiate football career in the Patriot League.
Matt Rothrock, a 6’2, 237-pound tight end/defensive lineman, issued a verbal declaration to Lafayette, according to the Bulldogs’ official Twitter account Tuesday evening. Rothrock is one of the Bulldogs’ potential collegiate football prospects – linebacker Junior Joseph has also generated interest and some offers.
Through nine games, Rothrock has tallied 43 tackles (all solo), two sacks, one quarterback hurry, two deflected passes and a forced fumble, averaging 4.8 tackles per game. He’s part of a Bulldog defensive unit (reserves included) which has allowed a scant 65 points (7.2 points per game) while limiting eight of nine opponents to 12 points or less, with a trio of shutouts.
Wilson is 8-1 overall, has not lost a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 game since 2007 and is the defending District 3 AAAA runner-up.
