My thoughts: Clairton runs a spread-jet style no huddle offense. The one thing that has impressed me is they are very good at getting their athletes in open space this year, which equals big plays.
It starts with their quarterback Ryan Williams who has thrown for 2,877 yards and 39 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Another guy to watch is their talented running back Lamont Wade who rushed for 2,550 yards 45 touchdowns.
On defense, head coach Wayne Wade has been the defensive coordinator for the last five years. Most of the players who play offense also play defense. Unlike the offense, which is making some changes, the defense is the same as it always has been.
Bishop Guilfoyle statistically has one of the best defenses all year. They have seven shutouts and allowed 5.9 points per game. They are big up front and can control the line. Their strength on defense is that they are really sound as a group.
To keep up with Clairton’s offense, guys like quarterback Brandon Chadbourn and running back Sam McCloskey need to have big games on offense Friday afternoon.
The game should be won up front. Who ever wins the line matchup will win this game. Can Bishop Guilfoyle’s defense stop the mighty Clairton offense? We will find out Friday afternoon at Hersheypark Stadium.
